The salt flats of S. Pedro del Pinatar (Murcia) are classified as "Protected Space".

In addition to the productive activity of salt extraction, they serve as a habitat for numerous species of birds, such as flamingos, egrets, little egrets, herons, avocets, etc.

The reflection of the clouds in the stagnant waters produces a spectacle of great beauty. On the other hand, in the ponds a bacterium reproduces that gives the water a pinkish hue.

The park extends along the Mediterranean coast in the municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar. There are several beaches that we can find in the area of the park and one of my favorites is Torre Derribada, a natural beach of about 2.5 km with fine sand, which we access through some walkways from the parking area and picnic area. It can also be accessed from other walkways that cross the park at various points. It has a rescue service, watchtowers, foot showers and even a small bar with a terrace next to the Fishing and Recreation Port, the southern limit of the beach.

In its waters grow the Posidonia oceanica meadows, of great value for the maintenance of the marine ecosystem of the area. The strip of beach is delimited by the dunes and salt pans of the Park, where a particular vegetation of these sandy soils settles (a good job has been done.
